The West Ham midfielder is said to be on Thomas Tuchel’s wishlist heading into next season as the German boss looks to revamp his squad to mount a sustained challenge for the title.
Currently absent with England at the European Championships, Rice has enjoyed a great season with the Hammers helping them qualify for the Europa League for the first time since 2016.
Rice has been on the West London radar for over a year and could be on his way to Stamford Bridge a few years after being sacked by the club’s academy.
After Billy Gilmour’s one-season loan transfer was confirmed to Norwich City on Friday, Rice took to social media and sent her best wishes to the young Scotsman ahead of the new season,
It was recently reported that Rice has turned down two West Ham contract offers, which has given Chelsea and Manchester United hope in their pursuit of the 22-year-old.
Tuchel is a big fan of the midfielder and is a “key target” for the Champions League winners this summer. West Ham have maintained their star midfielder is not for sale, but David Moyes’ side is believed to value Rice at around £ 100million.
Rice is “interested” in listening to all offers submitted for him and would be “disappointed” if West Ham refused to allow a sale if a club put an offer of around £ 60million on the table.
However, it has emerged that Rice will not be resubmitting a transfer request or attempting to exit West Ham, where his existing deal runs until 2024, with the option of extending his stay at London Stadium for another 12 months.
West Ham has yet to receive an official offer for Rice, but it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to cash it if a suitor offered an irrefutable amount of money, even a number close to their valuation of their man. .
