Duo arrested for killing man over financial dispute in Coimbatore | News from Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: City police arrested two people on Monday morning for the murder of a saloon shop owner following a financial dispute in Telungupalayam.
Those arrested were identified as R Elangovan, 52, a money lender from Sri Krishna Nagar in Chokkampudur and R Ramji, 47, from Chokkampudur. Ramji was the Vice President of Hindu Munnani Urban District.
They were convicted under Section 302 (Punishment for Murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
“P Sasikumar, 35 years old from Telungupalayam, owned a saloon shop and he was also a moneylender. He had approached his childhood friend Ramji for a loan of Rs 5 lakhs two years ago. from Ramji, he had borrowed Rs 5 lakhs from Elangovan two years ago,” the police said.
Meanwhile, Ramji and Elangovan harassed Sasikumar to return the loan amount, but Sasikumar refused to return the amount.
At around 1 a.m. on Monday, Ramji went to Sasikumar’s house and asked him to come out of the house to talk about some personnel matter.
Ramji and Sasikunar had walked to the nearby street where Elangovan was waiting for Sasikumar.
Elangovan and Ramji again asked Sasikumar to return the amount of Rs 5 lakh with interest. A verbal quarrel developed between them. In a fit of rage, Elangovan and Ramji assaulted Saiskumar with knives and the pair abandoned the corpse and fled.
At around 2 a.m., a local woman heard a stray dog ​​barking and she opened the window of her house. She found a corpse in a pool of blood and alerted the police control room.
Immediately, a police team from Selvapuram rushed to the scene and sent the corpse to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
