  • Month-long campaign to break down biases and promote gender equity in the IT industry

NTT DATA – a leader in digital services and IT services, and NLB Services – a leading provider of workforce transformation solutions, today announced their alliance in a women-only hackathon titled Bridge The Gap. Through this initiative, NTT DATA and NLB Services aim to break down stigma and address the gender gap in the IT industry by recognizing promising women in technology. The month-long hackathon will run from March 8, 2022 to April 11, 2022.

Bridge The Gap Hackathon

Kicking off on March 8, 2022, International Women’s Day, the event will offer Java and .NET developers a platform to showcase their skills through a series of challenges. NLB aims to provide finalists/winners with the opportunity to interview top IT/Tech companies in India including NTT DATA. In order to raise awareness of career opportunities for women in technology, NTT DATA aims to provide more 1,000 jobs for women in its workforce through this hackathon, subject to applicants’ successful participation and completion of an interview process.

We’re excited to launch the Bridge the Gap hackathon to seek out top tech talent,” noted Ankur Dasgupta, Vice President – Marketing, Communications and CSR, NTT DATA Services. “We are committed to expanding our diversity goals and this event aims to promote and provide a platform that leads to the hiring of top talent at NTT DATA,” he added.

The hackathon will take place in two phases. In the first phase, participants will receive a coding challenge in Java and .NET. After successfully completing the coding challenge, participants will be tested with a multiple-choice question (MCQ) challenge. In the second phase, the MCQ Challenge will be conducted on ClearedTalent, an online technology talent screening platform and a strategic partner of NLB. ClearedTalent aims to create the world’s largest digital talent community of selected and engaged technology professionals.

Based on their performance in the above two challenges, participants will have the opportunity to interview and obtain various technology roles at NTT DATA.

Speaking of the Hackathon, Sachin Alug, CEO, NLB Services noted, “The upcoming hackathon aims to make diversity an integral part of the tech field. This will be a big step towards bias-free hiring and providing opportunities for those most overlooked. Surveys suggest that women make up only about a quarter of today’s tech workforce. And it’s time to reverse the roles. Through the hackathon, women coders will not only have the chance to show off their skills, but also try to bridge the widespread gender gap.”

Registration for the Hackathon challenge is now open, and interested candidates can register via the link www.techgig.com/challenge/nlb.
