Universal Music launches media and data platform

In New York, Universal Music Group for Brands (UMGB), the partnerships division of Universal Music Group (UMG), launched a media and data solution called UMusic Media Network, to connect brands and partners to media in New York. ‘UMG.
UMG has archived tens of thousands of hours of video content and over four trillion minutes of viewing time of its content on YouTube. The group’s consolidated digital properties attract more than 150 million unique visitors per month on desktops, smartphones and tablets in the United States, which, when combined with data and information, help brands to identify where they can be most effective in reaching both core and new audiences.
The new UMusic Media Network provides brands with access to UMG’s music video content inventory, spanning the company’s social media platforms. Through the platform, brand partners can access premium, culturally relevant content from a variety of artists, as well as data and insights from UMG, enabling audience hyper-targeting.
The network will be led by Richard Yaffa, EVP, Global Head of UMGB, and Morgan Buksbaum, SVP of Media and Properties at UMGB. Yaffa comments, “Through this new platform, UMG artists can create destination programming exclusively for brands, giving our partners the ability to hyper-target culturally relevant content where they previously couldn’t. . When advertisers connect with culturally relevant content and associate their brand with our artists, consumers feel greater brand affinity and engage more actively with these ads.”
